The National Museum of Taiwan Literature (NMTL), which will hold an online ceremony for the Creative Awards category as part of the Taiwan Literature Award (臺灣文學獎) on 2:30pm, July 31, announced the list of winners and shortlisted authors for the category on July 22.

The Taiwan Literature Awards, hosted by the National Museum of Taiwan Literature (NMTL), received a total of 171 submissions in 2021, and nine winners were selected out of 34 shortlisted works by 20 judges.

This year's works in the Creative Awards category show for history and society, especially Huang Ming-feng’s (黄明峰) "Where are you from?," which was awarded first prize for Taiwan poetry. A poem dedicated to white terror victims Lan Ming-gu and Zhang A-dong and his wife, it uses their background as victims of persecution as source material in describing their mutual struggle in the face of authoritarian rule.

"Talking about 'Fa' amid the pandemic" by Huang Chiu-chih (黄秋枝), which addresses various illnesses and folk healing amid the pandemic, was awarded in the Hakka prose category.

“Slamaw's Interview Record” by Huang His (黃璽), which details the migration and historical changes in the Atayal Slamaw tribe, was awarded in the Indigenous poetry category.

Due to uncertain factors of the pandemic, the award ceremony will be held in the form of livestreaming. Literary lovers are welcome to join in the event online and commend the winners who have achieved literary success.

The Taiwan Literature Award organized by the National Museum of Taiwan Literature serves as an indicator in the world of Taiwanese literature with an emphasis on the artistry and creativity of literature. Over the past decade years, the Taiwan Literature Award has attracted increasing numbers of local novelists and playwrights to vie for the award and have encouraged more, including old and new writers, to try and publish novels and dramas.
