Hualien's Pavilion at Creative Expo Taiwan recognized by Red Dot Brands & Communication Design 2021: Best of the Best Award

In August, the Red Dot Award, a recognized international seal for good design, announced this year's winners. Taiwan's eastern coastal county of Hualien's Pavilion at the 2021 edition of Creative Expo Taiwan (2021臺灣文博會花蓮縣館), curated by the Legend Archaeology Team (據說考古隊), recognized by the Red Dot Brands & Communication Design 2021: Best of the Best Award.

To arouse every moment of the public's memory of Hualien, the curatorial team presented an immersive experience of five senses, including space, terroir, legend, story, interaction, planting, lighting, sound, and even the smell of the entrance.

The team as a co-production platform was comprised of many local teams and artists in Hualien including Into the woods & co. (森深試務所), JIC Media Group (集刻互動媒體), Yu-Hsuan Wang (王妤璇), We Do Group (瓦豆·光田), Olifa Hsieh (謝瀞瑩), Temperature (溫度物所), P.Seven (台灣茶香水).

Curator Tseng Ling-li (曾令理) stated that the pavilion is the work of field study accumulated over the past two years and the idea originated from the Bunun's slate house. The main visual installation was built by thousands of discarded marble slabs, showing the beauty and rough side of Hualien through the surface of the texture, volume, extended, twisted and upright.

Established in 1955, The Red Dot Design Award has been considered one of the preeminent award programs in the design field among which the Red Dot: Best of the Best is the award for very high design quality. Only projects and brands that win over the jury with their very high design quality and creative performance can receive the prestigious award.
