Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee has announced that the 58th Golden Horse Award for Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded to cinematographer Lin Tsan-ting (林贊庭) and director Tsai Yang-ming (蔡揚名).

The 92-year-old Lin Tsan-ting is the first cinematographer to win the award. He began his career in the film industry in 1949 as one of the first apprentices at the Agricultural Education Company, which was the former of Central Motion Picture Corporation. In 1957, he officially took a lead in cinematography. Learning color photography from Japanese techniques, Lin was regarded as a crucial play in converting Taiwan's film industry from black-and-white to color film. Collaborated with director Pai Ching-jui (白景瑞), Lin produced several reputable works including "Lonely Seventeen (寂寞的十七歲)," and "Home, Sweet Home (家在台北)."

After that, he also joined forces with other directors such as Liu Jia Chang (劉家昌), Chen Yao-chi (陳耀圻), Wang Tong (王童), Lin Ching-Jie (林清介), Wan Jen(萬仁), and groomed succeeding generations.

Over the years, Lin has worked on more than 130 films and won four Golden Horse Awards for Best Cinematography, with titles including "Lonely Seventeen," " Love Begins Here (愛的天地)," "Girl Friend (女朋友)," and "The Victory (梅花).” Additionally, he also won the Best Cinematography at the Asia Pacific Film Festival for "Falling Snowflakes (雪花片片)."

The 82-year-old director Tsai Yang-ming started out as an actor in 1963 and has starred in more than 200 Taiwanese films, including "The Golden Spears (金色夜叉)," "City of Sorrow (悲情城市)," and "Life in the Back Street (後街人生)." In addition, he was known as the "godfather of Taiwanese gangster movies" for his films such as "Gangland Odyssey (大頭仔)," "Fatal Recall (兄弟珍重)", and "Ah Dai (阿呆) ." In recent years, Tsai assists Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute to conduct historical research, continuing to make contributions.
