Minister of Culture Lee Yung-te made an in-person visit to the Chimei Museum (奇美博物館) and Ten-Drum Culture Village (十鼓仁糖文創園區) in Tainan on Sep. 17 to understand their operational situation.

The minister stated that the formulated plans and business models of the two venues, including their architecture, sceneries, exhibitions, and children’s art facilities, fully demonstrate the creativity, flexibility and efficiency of the private sector, and will serve as important reference for setting up the children’s museum of the future.

Chi Mei Museum's buildings and park are built in classical Western aesthetic style. They are not only spiritual symbols of Tainan City, but also important sightseeing spot for tourists visiting Tainan. Lee's visit was specifically aimed at understanding the museum's architectural planning, garden design, night lighting, and management, among others, in addition to visiting its "Tim Walker: Wonderful Things" exhibition.

The Ministry of Culture will continue supporting this "museum in the garden" in the post-epidemic era, retain its strength and maintain its operations, so that the public can continue to appreciate the invaluable museum collections.

Established by the Ten Drum Art Percussion Group (十鼓擊樂團), the Ten Drum Cultural Village has been transformed from an unused old sugar factory into a creative cultural park promoting local culture and history through music. It now functions as a new cultural landmark, preserving the region's industrial heritage and connecting local museums and parks to better serve southern Taiwan. It includes many cultural facilities such as artist’s residency, art gallery, theater, sugar machine interactive space and children's experience hall which suitable for adults and children.

Lee Yung-te not only showed appreciation for the thrilling drum performances of the Ten Drum Art Percussion Group, which lead the audience on an imaginative journey of history, industry and art, but also visited and experienced each part of the Ten Drum Cultural Village.
