'Taipei International Book Exhibition: Featured Pavilions on Tour' builds new reading experiences

Due to the impact of the pandemic, the physical exhibition of Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE) has been suspended for two years in a row. This year, to present TIBE’s featured pavilion to book lovers, the Ministry of Culture has commissioned the Taipei Book Fair Foundation to launch three sessions of the “Taipei International Book Exhibition: Featured Pavilions on Tour (台北國際書展精選主題館巡迴展)” in Taichung, Tainan, and Yilan from Aug. 27 to Oct. 24 separately.

This is the first time that TIBE is on display in other areas of Taipei. MOC hopes that together with the activities of reading salons and sales, the exhibition is able to spur a new wave of book fair experiences that will help boost the publishing industry.

The exhibition is divided into five themes, featuring "Pavilion of Book Prize Winners (書展大賞館)" which presents Taiwan's annual original award-winning works; "2020 Bologna Children's Book Fair Illustrators Exhibition: Works from Taiwan (2020義大利波隆那插畫展-臺灣入選作品展)" which showcases 32 illustrations selected in the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition, and the Children-Spectators Illustrators Competition; "Interaction Area: Forest of Tales (妖怪山互動體驗區)" which combines chibi monsters of Taiwanese folklore with a story wall, allowing visitors to play with the interactive games; and "Recommended Picture Books (精選繪本展)" which displays Taiwan's high-quality original picture books. Moreover, the pavilion is equipped with "TiBE Shop (展書販售區)" for readers to purchase the displayed books.

Additionally, 11 reading salons will be held. The organizer will invite the award-winning illustrators and creators to interact with readers, including Animo Chen (阿尼默), Chang Tzu-chun (張梓鈞), PAM PAM LIU, Zhou Jian-xin (周見信), Chen Pei-Hsiu (陳沛珛), and Tsai Yao-Yu (蔡曜宇).

This exhibition is free with admission with a limit of 80 people each time (a limit of 40 people in Yilan session). Audiences should visit during their scheduled time slot in line or on-site registration with the current epidemic prevention curbs. For those who are unable to attend, the video highlights of the reading salons will be streamed online through TIBE's website, Youtube channel, and Facebook page.
