NTCRI | '2016 Cross-Strait Crafts Awards'


Established in 2013, the Cross-Strait Crafts Awards (中華工藝精品獎) are organized by several noted crafts communities from both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Now in its third year, the award organizers are collaborating with museums and cultural venues to showcase this year's winning awards.

Working with the Taipei Branch of the National Taiwan Crafts Research and Development Institute, the award organizers have curated a special exhibition running from April 23 through May 1 in Taipei.

The exhibition encompasses three sections and a forum between Chinese wood sculptor Gao Gong-bo (高公博) and Taiwan's revered craftsman Chen Chi-tsun (陳啟村).

The first section of the exhibition showcases the award-winning works, while the second section focuses on over 150 crafted pieces by artists from Fujian, Anhui, Henan, and Jiangxi.

The third section is curated under the theme of Silk Road, in which items like ceramics and silk that were once exchanged through the famous trade route are replicated through poster displays.

The exhibition is also scheduled to travel to Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Italy, and other countries that traded with East Asia through the famed Silk Road.
