"The View of Formosa's Landscapes from Photographers II” curated by the National Taiwan Museum is one of the key photographic exhibitions paving the way for the Ministry of Culture's upcoming National Photography Center.

The exhibition focuses on the features of Taiwan’s unique natural geography and the people who co-exist with the island. The museum has curated over 200 photographs that can display the beauty of Formosa in four areas – forests and wilderness, maritime treasures, its people over the ages, and photographers' picks.

The featured 48 photographers come from three distinct generations, ranging from early and established to modern and contemporary. Through the lens and generational context of these photographers, the exhibition hopes to reflect the passing of time and the rapid changes that have taken place within each photographer's time frame.

For example, Laomei Green Reef in northern Taiwan was devastated by a fuel leakage incident earlier this March, but its original grandeur was captured in the Laomei series by photographer Chuang Ming-ching (莊明景).

The 2016 exhibition follows in the footsteps of "The View of Formosa's Landscapes from Photographers I," co-organized by the National Taiwan Museum and the Society of Photographic Museum and Culture of Taiwan in 2013. It is also part of the Ministry of Culture's flagship project "Rescue of National Photography Assets and Establishment of National Photography Center."
