High-end showcase to help Taiwan’s excellent crafts enter Thai market

The National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (NTCRI) has organized a trade delegation comprising 20 Taiwanese companies dealing in metallic crafts, indigo dyes, wood art, lacquerware, ceramics, and stone sculptures to exhibit 35 sets of top-end handcrafted wares in Thailand.

The exhibition — "Taiwan Excellent Crafts" — is scheduled to first take place at River City Bangkok (RCB), an antiques marketplace and shopping center, from July 1 to Aug. 31, and then at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand from Sept. 2 to Oct. 31.

Representative Tung Chen-yuan (童振源) of the Taipei office in Thailand noted that these exhibits from Taiwan are brilliant, with each set reflecting the impressive craftsmanship and aesthetics of the featured Taiwanese artisans. He added that Taiwan's handcrafted products can tap into new business opportunities in Thailand by holding showcases at local outlets and boutiques.

During the four-month exhibition timeframe, NTCRI will also work with pinkoi, an online marketplace for original design. The e-commerce platform caters to over 2.5 million registered members across 93 nations and has facilitated approximately 6.4 million successful transactions.

The institute is confident that utilizing both brick-and-mortar shops and online markets will help exquisite Taiwan-crafted wares make smoother and more efficient inroads into the Thai market.
