Ju Percussion Group to hold live concerts with renowned percussionists from five countries

Taiwan’s Ju Percussion Group (朱宗慶打擊樂團) will use technology and digital resources to jointly hold live concerts with international percussionists from five countries across different time zones in an online conference room of 100 people.

Ju Percussion Group issued a statement indicating that they will hold a "Percussion Series Live Concert" on three Friday evenings – July 16, July 23, and August 6 revolving around the main theme of "World Gathering."

The first performance in the series on 10:30pm on July 16 will be hosted by senior group member Huang Kuen-yean (黃堃儼).

The concert will include Michael Burritt from the US East Coast at 10:30am local time, Zhang Junliang and Eriko Daimo from the US West Coast at 7:30am local time, and Jean Geoffroy and Les Percussions de Strasbourg from France at 4:30pm local time.

In addition, there will be a Tremolo Ensemble at 5:30pm local time in Israel and Amadinda Percussion Group at 4:30pm local time in Hungary. Senior member of the Ju Percussion Group Wu Pei-ching (吳珮菁) will perform a xylophone solo.

Director Ju Tzong-ching (朱宗慶) pointed out on July 14 that by putting safety first, and making good use of technology, interaction is made possible. "Although it is not possible to invite foreign performers to Taiwan, we can invite performers from at home and abroad to ‘online’ exchanges," he said.

Ju Percussion Group noted that there is a limit on the number of people that can participate in the online platform, thus it will record every live performance. To view the performances after they take place, please visit Ju Percussion Group's YouTube page.
