'Malaysia TAGCC 2021-Taiwan-Malaysia International Comic Week' launches on September 15

Under the support of the Ministry of Culture and Culture Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, "Malaysia TAGCC 2021-Taiwan-Malaysia International Comic Week" was launched on September 15 to promote the soft power of comics from Taiwan and Malaysia.

Consisting of four exhibitions, "Malaysia TAGCC 2021-Taiwan-Malaysia International Comic Week" was a combined effort by the Taipei Comic Artist Labor Union, National Museum of Taiwan Literature, Nippon Designers School Malaysia, NDS, Malaysia's TAGCC and the Malaysia Comicker Union.

"POPUP Exhibition" showcases 12 three-dimensional works of classic Taiwanese comic characters specially designed and produced for this exhibition by 12 Malaysian artists, including graffiti artist Kenji Chai, toy designer AH-B Blowwater, Jefferson Ng, Ah Guan, comic artist Takasi (泉記) and Sky Yong, among others.

"Asian Comic Artist One-Page Horror Comic Essence Exhibition" organized by the Taipei Comic Artist Labor Union presents 65 comic works drawn by Taiwanese and Malaysian artists that were previously selected for the "Asia Comic Artists - Horror Comic One Page Challenge" in 2020.

The third exhibition displays 42 finalist works from the "Taiwan – Malaysia Classic Ic Comic Character Illustration Competition 2021" in June, which invited professional and amateur creators from Taiwan and Malaysia to create their own drawings of well-known comic characters from both countries.

Co-organized with the National Museum of Taiwan Literature, the fourth exhibition "Taiwan Ghost Literature Special Exhibition" based on an exhibition hosted in the past hopes to provide the audience with a deeper understanding of Taiwanese folk culture through comics in a concise manner.

In addition to the exhibitions, an international comic forum and two master class training activities will be held. For more information, please visit the event's official website or Comicker Union’s Facebook page.
