Strong Taiwanese lineup to feature at 26th Busan International Film Festival

The 26th Busan International Film Festival, which will take place from Oct. 6 to 15 in South Korea, will feature Taiwanese works, including numerous films selected for the A Window on Asian Cinema and the Wide Angle section.

A Window on Asian Cinema section includes director Chung Mong-hong's (鍾孟宏) "The Falls (瀑布)," director Chang Teng-Yuan's (張騰元) "Days Before the Millennium (徘徊年代)," director Chienn Hsiang (錢翔)'s "Increasing Echo (修行)," and the feature film "Moneyboys (金錢男孩)" co-produced by Taiwan, Austria, France, and Belgium.

"The Falls (瀑布)" is Chung Mong-hong's latest work, which was previously chosen for the Orizzonti Competition section of the Venice Film Festival and the Special Presentations section of the Toronto International Film Festival. It is Chung's first work to observe the society from the perspective of a female protagonist.

In the Wide Angle section, "Good Day (詠晴)" by director Zhang Zhi-teng (張誌騰) will be competing for the Asian Short Film Competition. Additionally, "Crossing's End (彼岸)" by director Shih Yu-lun (施佑倫) and "Taste of Wild Tomato (野番茄)" by Malaysian director Lau Kek-huat (廖克發) have been both shortlisted for the Documentary Competition.

Established in 1996, the Busan International Film Festival held annually in Haeundae-gu, Busan (also Pusan), South Korea, is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia. This year's official selection of 223 films from 70 countries will be screened online and offline in six cinemas at the same time.
