Zodiac prints to bring a taste of Lunar New Year to Yekaterinburg

An "Oriental Calendar" prints exhibition will be held at the Glavny Prospekt International Arts Center in Yekaterinburg, Russia from Nov. 9, 2019 through Jan. 10, 2020.

The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA) has provided 80-plus prize-winning works from its annual prints competition for the exhibition. Taipei-based Protean Gallery will also offer over 20 works from its collection. Through this exhibition, the organizers aim to showcase fine artworks on East Asian zodiac culture and Taiwan's Lunar New Year customs.

Since 2017, this popular traveling exhibition has been invited to tour all over Russia, from Moscow, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, and Tomsk, and then to Chelyabinsk, Ulan-Ude in Siberia, and even Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan.

In the Yekaterinburg exhibition, the twelve zodiac characters will display their different personalities through rich and vivid colors that are bolstered by auspicious symbols of flowers and birds. It will also showcase Taiwan's exquisite printmaking skills.

The exhibition is made possible by the help of Nicholas Hsu, cultural director at Taiwan's representative office in Moscow, curator Andrey Martynov, and Taipei-based MBmore art gallery.

The Russian-language press release is available here.
