Parisian theater to offer call-in poetic consultations in Mandarin

The Paris-based Théâtre de la Ville, with its partner theaters in Europe, will be offering poetic consultations in foreign languages from April 22 through June 30 with bilingual actors — in Greek, Spanish, English, Portuguese, Mandarin, Wolof, Beti, Lingala, Sango, Pidgin, Congo, Italian, and Arabic. The consultation, as well as the reading of the poem, will take place in the language of your choice.

The four Mandarin-language consultants from Taiwan are:

Tseng Chih-wei (曾志偉), who majored in directing at Taipei National University of the Arts, has worked with eight French theater companies since 2016. He is a theater director, actor, dancer, movement director, model, stage manager, producer, translator, and director assistant. He devotes his efforts to interdisciplinary performing arts and international collaboration.

Wang Shih-wei (王世偉) is a theater graduate from Taipei National University of the Arts and holds a doctoral degree in theater arts from New Sorbonne University Paris III. His focus on European theater culture delves into writing, translation, academic research, cultural exchange, and artistic creation. He also translates French classics.

Fang Yi-ju (方意如), who obtained a performing arts degree from Taipei National University of the Arts in 2006, trained under veteran French clown Philippe Gaulier in France. Apart from working as an actress, comedian, puppeteer, mask performer, clown, and director, Fang is also the founding director of Circus P.S. (方式馬戲), a Taipei-based contemporary circus troupe.

Yilin Yang (楊宜霖) studied foreign languages at Hsinchu’s National Tsing Hua University and theater at New Sorbonne University Paris III before becoming a full-time actor upon graduating from Ecole Claude Mathieu Art et Techniques de l'Acteur. Her film works include "New Territories (2014)" and "Isola (2016)" by French director Fabianny Deschamps.
