TECO in Malaysia and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman jointly launch 'Telling Tales' online

Co-organized by the Cultural Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia and carried out by the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Center For Artistic Research, a series of online activities titled "Telling Tales" was held on July 30 and 31. President of UTAR Professor Ewe Hong Tat (尤芳達) carried out the opening ceremony for the online activities.

One of the objectives for the event was to create a sharing platform for art and cultural creators in Malaysia and Taiwan. Through the use of different media to tell stories of art, methods and processes, online participants were able to share their experiences and inspirations while discussing the diverse impact of media storytelling to audiences of different cultural backgrounds, and further examine the deeper meaning of media storytelling in relation to future exchanges.

The two-day event included special lectures, workshops and forums. Lecturers included young Malaysian novelist Tutu Dutta, Malaysian Chinese director Chong Keat Aun (張吉安), young artist Tintoy Chuo, animator Sandra Khoo, R&D studio director Irwan Junaidy, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology professor Huang Ya-ling (黃雅玲), National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University professor Liu Chi-Hui (劉紀蕙), and Shih Hsin University professor Tzeng Sy Yi (曾絲宜) among others.

Other lecturers participating in the workshops and forums included well-known writers, film directors, artists, performance artists, interdisciplinary educators and traditional craftsmen in Taiwan and Malaysia. They shared their use of media in their respective fields in the forums, in addition to valuable experiences, knowledge, and skills for media storytelling.
