Taiwanese micro-theater groups lauded by French media

Five Taiwanese micro-theater groups - T.T.C.Dance, MIX Acrobatics Theater, Theatre De La Sardine, the Freedom Beat and Shakespeare's Wild Sisters Group - were lauded by French media for their performances at the OFF Festival d'Avignon in France, the Ministry of Culture announced on Aug. 14.

According to the Ministry's overseas office in Paris, the Taiwanese performers were heavily covered by the host country's local media outlets, such as French TV station France 3 and Radio France International, as well as French newspapers Le Figaro, Liberation and La Provence.

Because of Taiwan's growing popularity in the Paris-based arts festival, the Taipei Cultural Center in Paris said it will continue to work with major French arts festivals and institutions to help Taiwanese art groups obtain more performance opportunities.

The OFF Festival d'Avignon takes place each year alongside the official ON Festival d'Avignon and includes over 1,000 theater, dance, music and other unique shows at a host of different venues. 2013 marks the seventh consecutive year Taiwanese artists have performed in the OFF festival.
