FRENCH MUSIC TRADE FAIR DIRECTOR TO ATTEND TAIPEI FORUM

The director of the world's largest music trade fair, France's Marche International du Disque et de l'Edition Musicale (MIDEM), will visit Taipei to share his music and marketing experiences, the Ministry of Culture said on Tuesday.

Bruno Crolot will address government officials and representatives from Taiwan's music industry on July 5 in the 2013 MIC Taiwan Global Branding Forum at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park, said GCA Entertainment, which is jointly organizing the event in conjunction with the Ministry.

Taiwan plays a leading role in the mando-pop music scene, which has an estimated audience of 1.5 to 2 billion people, the Ministry said, adding that it hopes the upcoming forum can help facilitate closer cooperation between the East and the West.

Prior to serving as director at Reed MIDEM, organizer of the annual music trade fair held in Cannes, Crolot was vice president of digital sales and business development for Sony Music Entertainment France.

He also worked in marketing and business development at French telecommunications corporation Orange, French cable operator Noos and entertainment group Universal Music France.

The French trade fair attracts thousands of musicians, producers and managers each year. Taiwanese diva Jolin Tsai and singer-songwriter William Wei were invited to perform at the 2013 MIDEM earlier this year in January.
