Taiwan's representative to Italy Lee Sing-ying (李新穎) visited the Taiwan Pavilion at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition, which was launched at the Palazzo delle Prigioni in Venice, Italy on May 22.

The Taiwan Pavilion was jointly organized and curated by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA), Divooe Zein Architects (自然洋行建築事務所), and Double-Grass International Co. (草字頭國際).

Lee lauded the Taiwan Pavilion team for the efforts and expressed his support for Taiwan’s architecture and art sectors, congratulating the successful implementation of the project.

Lee was greeted by deputy director of the NTMoFA Wang Jia-zheng (汪佳政), who introduced the concept behind the exhibit and the process of preparing for it amidst a pandemic.

During the visit, Representative Lee also learned of how the organizer and the team of the exhibit have responded to the postponement of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition, which was originally scheduled for 2020, and the measures the event organizers implemented to ensure the safety of curating teams while they proceeded with their duties.

Lee pointed out that Italy's architectural strength is renowned all over the world and the biennale is one of the world’s most prestigious architectural exhibitions and an occasion of dialogue and exchange attracting architecture professionals, members, and enthusiasts from all over the globe.

He expressed his approval and gratitude towards Taiwan Pavilion’s chief organizer NTMoFA for its hard work and dedication in providing an outstanding exhibition platform in spite of the many challenges brought by the pandemic.

Together with Taiwan's excellent architectural design teams, the NTMoFA has actively worked to curate experimental works that are relatable to the times and positiveness, and at the same time, can serve as a voice for Taiwan’s contemporary architecture in connecting with the global architecture community.

In addition to the Taiwan Pavilion, Taiwanese architect Huang Sheng-yuan (黃聲遠) and Fieldoffice Architects (田中央聯合建築師事務所) are invited by the biennale to present a themed exhibition, "Living in place, enabling the coming-together (大家牽做伙)," at the main venue, and Taiwanese artist Chenta Tsai Tseng (蔡承達) is invited to display his works at a joint exhibition at the Spanish National Pavilion.
