Minister Li Yuan visits NTMC and NTMoFA in Taichung

On June 10, Culture Minister Li Yuan visited the National Taiwan Museum of Comics (NTMC) and the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA) in Taichung City, seeing ongoing exhibitions including “Yeh Hong-chia Centennial,” “An Ode to the Sun and the Moon - Yen Shui Long's Formosa,” and “A Pluralistic Art History for Future Generations.”

During a guided tour led by Yeh Chia-lung (葉佳龍), son of the late Taiwanese comic artist Yeh Hong-chia, Minister Li remarked that the comic character “Jhuge Shiro (諸葛四郎)” took Taiwan by storm upon its debut. Emphasizing the role of the NTMC as a hub for Taiwanese comics, he promised that the ministry would expedite the construction of the museum’s northern compound to provide a comprehensive space for comics research, education, and international exchange.

During his stop at the NTMoFA, Minister Li noted that “An Ode to the Sun and the Moon - Yen Shui Long's Formosa” and “A Pluralistic Art History for Future Generations” are part of the ministry’s efforts to reconstruct Taiwan’s art history. He affirmed that the ministry would continue to assist the NTMoFA in fully developing the narratives of Taiwan’s fine art development, aiming to elevate the archiving and research of artwork to new heights.
