The Ministry of Culture (MOC) held a prayer ceremony on July 27 at the Taiwan Pavilion in the Parc de la Villette, ahead of the Paris Cultural Olympiad’s opening. From July 27 to Aug. 10, Taiwan’s performance groups will showcase the country’s art and culture to the world.
Sue Wang (王時思), Deputy Minister of Culture, said that meticulous planning allowed the Taiwan Pavilion to be the first to pass security checks in the Parc de la Villette, two days before the official opening. This achievement earned praise from French officials.
Starting July 27, over the course of 15 nights, the Taiwan Pavilion will host 57 performances featuring 24 groups and 122 artists from Taiwan. The shows will be organized under four themes: “Sound of Freedom,” “Island Elegance,” “Contemporary New Art,” and “World Integration.”
The MOC also highlighted that the Pavilion’ stage design draws inspiration from Taiwan’s traditional festivities, including Taiwanese Electric Flower Cars (電子花車), temple celebrations, and roadside banquets (辦桌).
