Director Tom Lin’s (林書宇) feature film “Yen and Ai-Lee (小雁與吳愛麗)” has won the Kim Jiseok Award at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), marking the first Taiwanese film to ever win the award.
The Ministry of Culture noted that, since the documentary “Opening Closing Forgetting (潰爛癒合掩藏)” won the BIFF Mecenat Award in 2018, Taiwanese films haven’t received any awards at the Korean film festival until now.
Minister of Culture Li Yuan (李遠) congratulated the production team and the cast members, and praised the film for its depiction of love and hatred in family relationship, calling it a film worthy of a watch for all parents and their children.
Li also added that the MOC will continue to support Taiwanese filmmakers, as well as to promote Taiwanese films to both domestic and international audiences.
