The 2024 Taiwan Literature Awards (TLA) ceremony was held at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park on Nov. 16 to honor this year’s literary laureates. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture Li Yuan, Director of the National Museum of Taiwan Literature (NMTL) Chen Ying-fang (陳瑩芳), as well as other distinguished guests from various fields.
In her acceptance speech, Ping Lu (平路), winner of the Annual Golden Grand Laurel Award, encouraged fellow writers to continue their pursuit for writing, stating that there are plenty of fascinating stories in Taiwan worthy to be written about.
Reflecting on his experience as a judge for the TLA in previous years, Minister Li, an author himself, commended young writers for the maturity and their perspectives on the world shown in their works.
Director Chen noted that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Taiwan Literature Awards. She added that the NMTL is not only brining award-winning books to school campuses through book fairs and author talks, but is also planning to cooperate with the Taiwan Creative Content Agency to further promote Taiwanese literature internationally.
Starting from Nov. 19, the NMTL will be hosting a series of author talks at various high schools, universities, bookstores, and libraries. For more information, visit the TLA’s official website and Facebook page.
