With efforts made by the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia and ArtsEquator, a Singapore-based arts organization, 11 arts writers and critics from Southeast Asia were invited to visit Taiwan in mid-April.
During their visit, they will attend performances at the Taiwan International Festival of the Arts (TIFA Taiwan), organized by the National Theater and Concert Hall, and participate in the 2025 Observer Forum on Apr. 19 at the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB).
The 2025 Observer Forum provides an opportunity for Taiwanese arts professionals and international critics to engage in meaningful dialogue. The forum is divided into two sessions: “The Contemporary Landscape of Art and Cultural Criticism in Southeast Asia” and “The Role of Institutions and Platforms: An Observational Study of the Ecosystem of Art and Cultural Criticism in Taiwan.” For more information, visit: https://www.accupass.com/event/2503110503552528901040.
ArtsEquator is dedicated to promoting Southeast Asian regional art practice and supporting the cultural rights of artists and audiences to make, distribute, and experience a diversity of arts and culture. This initiative, which brings ArtsEquator-sponsored arts writers and critics to TIFA Taiwan Week, aims to showcase the development of the arts in Taiwan.
ArtsEquator Executive Director Wahyuni Hadi and co-founder Kathy Rowland emphasized the importance of this visit in providing exposure for Southeast Asian critics and fostering international connections.
