The Ministry of Culture announced the winners of the 46th Golden Tripod Award for Publications on Oct. 5, and the Special Contribution Award was bestowed to the founder of Taiwan Interminds Publishing, Inc., Wei Sue-jean (魏淑貞). This year, 30 works were awarded and 61 outstanding publications were selected for recommendation out of 1,279 entries.
The jury stated that Wei has dedicated herself to the publishing industry for over 30 years and has valued the importance of cultural practice while publishing despite the challenging industrial environment. The publications of Wei demonstrated historical depth, social dimension, and humanistic quality, moreover, they raised the international visibility of Taiwan.
The award-winning books present an overall rich landscape of Taiwan's publications in the categories of literature, non-fiction, and books for children and more, providing a diverse reading experience as the works are of quality and ingenuity. In terms of the magazine publication category, the works are impressive in every aspect including the design, the informative content, and the spread of ideas; winners of the digital publishing category fully showed their evolution and innovation and the government publications provide new perspectives for readers.
Culture Minister Lee Yung-te recognized the hard work of the publishers as well as their courage to seek breakthroughs. Publication is the foundation of cultural content development, and through the effort of the workers in the publishing industry, people get to immerse in such rich and diverse publication works. MOC will continue to support and promote exceptional works via awards and grant projects, ensuring the development of Taiwan's culture, Minister Lee added.
The 46th Golden Tripod Award ceremony will take place at the Taipei New Horizon on Nov. 3; it will also be broadcast live on the Golden Tripod Award YouTube Channel.
