NTCRI kicks off nationwide events for 70th-anniversary celebrations

The National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (NTCRI) launched its 70th-anniversary celebrations on May 28, announcing a series of events throughout the year. These events include “craft pilgrimages,” exhibitions, and award ceremonies designed to highlight the significance of crafts and encourage public engagement in craft creation.

Chen Tien-li (陳殿禮), the director of NTCRI, revealed that the institute will initiate a series of craft pilgrimages across the country to revisit the origins of the institute’s invaluable collections and recount their history. He said that the pilgrimage will begin in Nantou County and continue to take place in other cities and counties, including Taipei, Changhua, Taitung, Tainan, and Hsinchu.

Chen added that the NTCRI will host an award ceremony in December to present the country’s highest honor in the crafts industry – the National Crafts Achievement Award, Taiwan Craft Award, and Taiwan Green Craft – to recognize outstanding artisans for their contributions.
