Supported by the Ministry of Culture’s Spotlight Taiwan project, the 7th Taiwan Film Festival in Australia hosted the premiere of “Old Fox (老狐狸)” on July 25 at the Event Cinemas in Sydney. Director Hsiao Ya-chuan (蕭雅全) attended the post-screening talk and engaged with the audience.
During the event, Wu Cheng-wei (吳正偉), Head of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Sydney, noted that the Taiwan Film Festival in Australia has become the largest Taiwanese film festival in the country. He emphasized that the festival aims to showcase Taiwan’s society and culture to Australian communities while celebrating shared values of democracy and freedom.
The acclaimed film “Old Fox” has garnered numerous accolades at the 60th Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan, including Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Makeup & Costume Design, and Best Original Film Score. Furthermore, it won seven awards, including Best Director, at the 26th Taipei Film Festival.
