Open call: 2025 Writers-in-Residence program of Taiwan Literature Base

The Taiwan Literature Base, which is under the National Museum of Taiwan Literature (NMTL), is holding an open call for its 2025 Writers-in-Residence program. The program offers writers the opportunity to reside at the Taiwan Literature Base in Taipei for a period of 7 to 30 days, with residencies taking place between August 2025 to July 2026.

Now in its fifth year, the Taiwan Literature Base Writers-in-Residence program seeks to promote Taiwanese literature and cultural creativity, foster connections between the creative industry and the commercial sector, and invigorate both domestic and international literary and cultural exchange. It also aims to nurture literary talent in Taiwan and reconstruct historical literary narratives.

To date, the program has hosted nearly 60 writers and translators from Taiwan and abroad. Last year, it received submissions from over 50 writers, setting a new record for international applications.

The open call is open through May 9 and welcomes writers from around the world who are engaged in creative works across literary genres, including fiction, essay, poetry, drama, screenplays, literary translation, non-fiction, or cross-disciplinary literary works.

The program’s selection guidelines are available in Mandarin, English, and Japanese. For more information, visit the Taiwan Literature Base official website and Facebook page. To apply, go to: https://reurl.cc/NYGnjn
