The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA), in collaboration with the National Development Council, is running the exhibition “Construction in Progress – An Art Museum in My Pocket.Line (建構中—我的口袋美術館.線)” from July 16 until Aug. 16. This exhibition celebrates the launch of the second edition of the “An Art Museum in My Pocket.Line” picture book series, focusing on the intricacies of printmaking and the creation of picture book.
In the picture book “An Art Museum in My Pocket.Line,” artist Chen Chu-li (陳姝里) reimagines “Landscape of Tamsui (淡水風景),” a painting by noted Taiwanese artist Chen Cheng-po (also known as Tan Teng-pho, 陳澄波) in 1935. Through the use of printmaking techniques, Chen Chu-li portrays the river and scenery of Tamsui in a heightened architectural and spatial sense.
Chen Chu-li is an artist based in Taiwan. She has a B.S. in Textile Design from Fu Jen Catholic University and a M.A. in Sequential Design and Illustration from the University of Brighton. Her observations on human conditions and behaviors are reflected in the images she creates through collaging, printmaking, and drawing. Her work is executed with warmth and rich textures.
