The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA) launched the exhibition titled “Unconscious Machines (下意識機器)” by artist Yeh Ting-hao (葉廷皓). The exhibition is set to run until Dec. 22 in Taichung City, featuring the first AI-themed work of Yeh’s.
“Unconscious Machines” aims to explore how AI hallucinations, resulting from the process of text-to-image generation from AI models such as ChatGPT and Stable Diffusion, “eventually transcend reality, inching closer to the manifestations within human consciousness,” while allowing the audience to reflect on AI technology and its use in art production.
Yeh is an artist with expertise in creative coding, experimental sound, and live performance. His works mostly focus on the relationship of sound and visual, heading to integrate prefabricated and instantaneous events, starting from glitch aesthetics, and attempting to find parodies and dialectics belonging to the new media age.
