To pay homage to the late artist Chen Cheng-po (陳澄波), the National Taiwan Museum (NTM) is presenting the “Rediscovering Taiwan: Chen Cheng-po’s 130th Birthday Anniversary Exhibition” at the NTM Railway Department Park.
Featuring eight of Chen’s original works, the exhibition creates a dialogue with the NTM’s natural history collections and specimens through three natural themes: the Kuroshio Current, the Monsoon, and the Tropic of Cancer. These themes highlight Taiwan’s rich biological and cultural diversity.
Held on Dec. 2, the opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Minister of Culture Li Yuan and Chen Li-po (陳立栢), Chairman of the Chen Cheng-po Cultural Foundation. Minister Li expressed his appreciation for the exhibition’s curation, which integrates Chen’s paintings with Taiwan’s unique flora and fauna, celebrating the island’s vitality of life.
NTM Director Chen Teng-chin (陳登欽) stressed that the exhibition not only looks back at the artist’s legacy but also explores how Taiwan’s natural phenomena have shaped and interacted with its cultural heritage.
The exhibition runs until May 11, 2025. For more information, visit the NTM website.
