The National Center of Photography and Images (NCPI) inaugurated the exhibition “Gods and All Sentient Beings (諸神與眾生)” on Feb. 20 in Taipei, showcasing expressions of spiritual beliefs through the art of photography. Featuring 18 works by 16 artists, the exhibition will run until June 29.

At the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Culture Li Yuan noted that the exhibition highlights Taiwan’s rich spiritual practices and the people devoted to them through the eyes of photographers. He extended his gratitude for the hard work and support of NCPI and independent organizations that made this exhibition possible.

Cheng Kuang-yi (陳貺怡), director of the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, explained that the exhibition encompasses contemporary photography and visual installations, offering diverse interpretations of the role of spiritual beliefs in contemporary society.

The exhibition is divided into two sections: “Gods” and “Sentient Beings.” “Gods” explores the connection between people and deities, as well as how beliefs have evolved throughout history in festivals, sacred spaces, and traditional religious symbols. “Sentient Beings” examines the human search for meaning in life, particularly through spiritual practices that connect individuals and communities.
