The exhibition “ARCHIVE, OR FOUND OBJECTS: Paint House Ex-situ Preservation Project,” co-organized by the Ministry of Culture (MOC), Asia Art Archive (AAA), and Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB), was inaugurated on Mar. 29. It is part of the “Histories and Archives of Independent Art Spaces of Asia” international symposium, which will take place from Apr. 11 to 13.
The exhibition builds upon the art project “Effects of Reconstruction: Paint House Ex-Situ Preservation,” initiated by artist Lin Huang-ti (林煌迪) in 2021. The project explores the creation, preservation, and reproduction of art through the lens of Paint House Studio, an independent art space founded in Tainan in 2000, which ceased operations at the end of 2018.
Featuring 29 artists from 14 groups, the exhibition includes works by Wang Wan-ting (王婉婷), Wang Ruei-heng (王瑞亨), Chen Hsin-chen (陳信成), Lin Wan-chien (林碗茜), Wang Min-yi (王閔儀), and others. Additionally, a creative workshop titled “Capturing Shadows,” led by Lin Huang-ti and Wang Wan-ting, was held on Mar. 30.
The exhibition runs until Apr. 13 at C-LAB. For more information, visit C-LAB official website.
