‘Beauty of Lineage’ exhibition explores Mongolian and Tibetan religion through art

The Ministry of Culture (MOC)’s Mongolian and Tibetan Cultural Center launched the exhibition “Beauty of Lineage: Mongolian and Tibetan Religion and Art (傳承之美–永恆的蒙藏宗教與藝術)” at the Mongolian and Tibetan Gallery on June 21. Featuring around 200 religious artifacts, the exhibition invites the public to embark on a spiritual journey through immersive and interactive spatial designs.

The exhibition showcases Buddhist statues and sculptures from Han and Tibetan traditions, thangkas—a Tibetan painting using ground mineral pigment on cotton or silk, as well as mandalas—a geometric design imbued with symbolic meanings in Buddhist culture. In addition, a selection of ritual instruments and religious artifacts is also on display.

MOC Secretary-General Lin Hung-I (林宏義) highlights the significance of this exhibition, noting that it features not only items from the Center’s permanent collection but also pieces generously loaned by private collectors. This collaboration results in a diverse and vibrant presentation of Mongolian and Tibetan religious culture, offering viewers an opportunity to delve deeper into these fascinating arts.

The Mongolian and Tibetan Cultural Center noted that the exhibition centers on the themes of tradition and art, providing historical context for Mongolian and Tibetan religions while also illustrating the profound connection between spirituality and artistic expression.

This exhibition is also one of the satellite events of the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute’s Taiwan Craft Festival 2025.

“Beauty of Lineage” runs through Jan. 11, 2026. For more information, visit the Mongolian and Tibetan Cultural Center’s official website and Facebook page
