Lulu Huang Lu was nominated for Best Host in a Variety Show at the Golden Bell Awards at the age of 24, marking the youngest record. At 29, she became the youngest host for the Golden Melody Awards. In 2022, at her 10th anniversary since her career debut, she received the Golden Bell Awards for the first time.
A member of the Tayal Indigenous people, Lulu Huang Lu was born in Tbulan Village (松鶴部落) in Taichung City. From a young age, Huang Lu had a passion for performing. She would mimic the voices and facial expressions of her teachers, classmates, and television singers.
Driven by her love for performance, Huang Lu enrolled in the Department of Radio and Television at National Taiwan University of Arts after graduating from Taichung Municipal Taichung Girls’ Senior High School. She first gained attention for her impression of the famous host Matilda Tao (陶晶瑩) on the show “University (大學生了沒).” She later appeared on various shows, including notable hosting roles such as “Hot Door Night (綜藝大熱門)” alongside Jacky Wu (吳宗憲) and Chen Han-dian (陳漢典). Jacky Wu, a renowned television host, praised Huang Lu as the most promising young female host.
In addition to her hosting work, Huang Lu is passionate about singing and aspires to be a successful singer. In 2016, she raised NT$1.6 million through a fundraising platform to independently release her debut solo EP, “Legs of Lulu (LuLu, 腿).” Following its success, a record company signed her and released her first album, “The Beauty Duckling (美小鴨),” the following year.
In 2019, Huang Lu participated in the theater show “Roommates (單身租隊友),” performing in 12 consecutive shows. That same year, she became the youngest host in the history of the Golden Melody Awards ceremony. In 2022, she won the Best Host in a Variety Show award at the Golden Bell Awards. In 2023, she hosted the 60th Golden Horse Awards and later won the Best Host in a Variety Show award at the Golden Bell Awards again for “Hot Door Night.”
