Highlights

The Taiwan-France Cultural Award is jointly presented by the Ministry of Culture and the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences under the Institut de France, the highest academic body in France.

Established in 1996, the Taiwan-France Cultural Award serves to:

    • Encourage professional arts institutions and individuals from France to carry out research and activities related to Taiwanese culture.

    • Honor those who have enhanced cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Europe.

    • Recognize outstanding contributions to research intoand promotion of Taiwanese culture.

The Taiwan-France Cultural Award helps to promote cultural diplomacy and research on Taiwan's culture. Originally established to thank French institutes and French citizens, the award selection range was expanded in 2008 to include all European nations. The number of winners has also been boosted to two slots to maximize the effects of the cultural award. The candidates for the award are nominated and recommended by Taiwan's embassies and representative offices throughout Europe. In recent years, award-winning fields have included literature, sinology, linguistics, performing arts, museums, and Taiwan studies.
