In the technology-driven era, when culture and morale are low, the arts serve as the foundation for originality and creativity. To perpetuate visual arts development, the Ministry of Culture has formulated a systematic approach with localization as its core, publishing art reviews and research, fortifying an environment conducive to artistic creation, nurturing art talent and professionals, and strengthening Taiwan's art education. The end goal is to cultivate a nation rich in aesthetics and to make culture equally accessible to all citizens.

Foreword

In addition to traditional visual arts such as painting, sculpture, and architecture, the Ministry also recognizes new creative categories such as mixed media that combine art with technology. Under a uniform, systematic strategy, the Ministry will continue to strive and nurture a new generation of artistic talent, enrich the environment for artistic creation, and foster wider appreciation for visual arts.

Objectives

To strengthen Taiwan's visual arts capabilities, the Ministry's tasks include reorganizing the environment for artistic creation, training new curators, shaping Taiwan's image through art, implementing art research projects, and subsidizing rental fees for exhibition venues. The overarching goal is to elevate the nation's appreciation for aesthetics and to achieve equal cultural rights for all.

Approach

The Ministry's systematic approach will promote the flourishing development of Taiwan's visual arts through publishing art reviews and books, encouraging and rewarding development in art, nurturing new and upcoming artists, strengthening the implementation of public art, and formulating policies advantageous to the visual arts sector.

  • Implementing programs that promote visual arts from the grassroots level;
  • Revitalizing public space, establishing art and research databases, and nurturing and rewarding new artists;
  • Facilitating international exchanges through exhibitions and artist visits;
  • Assisting with the planning, brokering, and purchasing of visual arts;
  • Guiding and subsidizing the expansion of domestic and foreign art markets and boosting local participation in international organizations;
  • Assisting visual artists, arts groups, and related agencies in organizing exhibitions and art shows.

Future Outlook
