Malaysian Artists Craft New Fairytales in Taiwan Communities

This literary collaboration featured Malaysia's Ferryman Art Space, which encompasses the yykksu publishing house (Liu Chi-hui, Huang Hsiu-chuan, Wang Tsui-ping), Orang Orang Drum Theater (Liao Shih-yi, Chou Hsing-shun), and artist Liao Hui-ming.

The artists of Ferryman Art Space were invited to carry out the "Reading History Tour - Malaysia Chapter” project, which was envisioned in three sections - "Reading Tour of Yunlin,” "Story Creations,” and "Community Carnival.”

As they traveled to and experienced life in Taiwanese communities, the Malaysian artists collected stories from local residents, recorded oral history, jotted down sights and scenes, and painted postcards. The materials were then compiled in an anthology published as "The Yunlin Classic of Mountains and Seas.”

To share stories that transcend national and cultural borders, Malaysia's Ferryman Art Space also held exhibitions such as "Photographic Impressions of Yunlin,” "Community Culture of Malaysia,” "Taste of Malaysia,” and "Meet the Writers,” successfully promoting Taiwan's community empowerment movement and Malaysia's establishment of artist villages.
