Four Taiwanese films have been selected for the competition section of 23rd edition of the Udine Far East Film Festival, which will run in a hybrid format with on-site and online film screenings from June 24 through July 2.
The line-up includes "Dear Tenant (親愛的房客)" directed by Cheng Yu-chieh (鄭鈺潔), "Gatao: The Last Stray (角頭－浪流連)" by Ray Jiang (姜瑞智), "Man in Love (當男人戀愛時)" by Yin Chen-hao (殷振豪), and "My Missing Valentine (消失的情人節)," by Chen Yu-hsun (陳玉勳).
"Dear Tenant," is a moving drama film about the love found within LGBT families; "Gatao: The Last Stray" is an action-romance film that revolves around a gangster and a freelance photographer.
A Taiwanese remake of the 2014 Korean romantic drama "Man in Love" is about a terminally ill gangster who falls in love for the first time. "My Missing Valentine," is a time-shifting romantic comedy about the loneliness and growth of modern people.
Organized by Centro Espressioni Cinematografiche (C.E.C), this year’s festival returns with a hybrid edition for the first time, boasting a total of 63 titles from 11 countries including Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and others. The goal of organizing the festival is to encourage and develop the understanding and appreciation of East Asian popular film amongst European and Italian audiences.
Each year, the festival's selection committee selects films to be included under the competition section, and the awarded titles will be announced during the festival’s closing ceremony.
