Works by Taiwanese filmmakers to feature at Bucheon Int'l Fantastic Film Festival

A total of 5 Taiwanese films and 2 shorts, along with cinematic works from 47 countries, will be screened at the 25th edition of Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), South Korea’s largest annual genre film festival, from July 8 through 18.

"Till We Meet again (月老)" directed by Giddens Ko (九把刀) will open the film festival which will take place in cinemas and online under the theme "Stay Strange." Horror-comedy "Treat or Trick (詭扯)" by Taiwanese director Hsu Fu-hsiang (許富翔) will compete with other international films under the competition category "Bucheon Choice."

"Till We Meet Again" is adapted from one of Ko’s best-selling books "God Of Love," the story follows a young man who takes on the odd job as matchmaking god after being struck dead by lightning. "Treat or Trick" is a remake of the renowned Korean film "To Catch A Virgin Ghost."

The other featured films include Golden Horse Awards winner "Dear Tenant (親愛的房客)" directed by Cheng Yu-chieh (鄭有傑), which portrays unconditional love and family relationship; "Mickey On The Road(迷走廣州);" "As We Like It (揭大歡喜)," co-directed by Chen Hung-i (陳宏一) and Muni Wei (魏瑛娟), depicting the love fairytales of four couples. The featured short films include "Life In A Box" as well as award-winning animated short film "Night Bus (夜車)."

Inaugurated in 1997, BIFAN is an international film festival held annually in Bucheon, South Korea. The festival focuses on South Korean and international horror, thriller, mystery and fantasy films, with particular attention to Asian cinema. This year, it will feature 258 films from 47 countries. The films will be screened through physical theatres at the festival site, as well as through an online platform, Wavve.
