MOC announces Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute's completion of its phase one venue

The Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute's (TFAI) Phase 1 Venue in Xinzhuang held a handover ceremony on August 5, attended by Deputy Minister of Culture Lee Ching-hwi (李靜慧), Mayor of New Taipei Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜), and Chairman of Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute Tony Lan (藍祖蔚).

The Ministry of Culture expressed its gratitude towards the New Taipei City Government for its assistance, and vowed to keep working with TFAI to improve the level of regional culture, lead the development of surrounding cultural tourism resources, and bring Taiwan's film and audiovisual culture to the world stage.

MOC pointed out that it is especially grateful to the New Taipei City Government for providing land, funding the construction of the main building, as well as commissioning related decoration and equipment projects, so that the TFAI has a perfect environment to become Taiwan's most professional audiovisual material collection and promotion center.

MOC stated that the TFAI is to serve national film and television professionals as well as those in the public who appreciate film and television. The first phase of the center is scheduled for a trial run in October this year, and will officially open in December. It plans to host a series of activities such as an exhibition marking Taiwanese Cultural Association’s 100th anniversary, in order to foster a deeper understanding of the Taiwan’s film and audiovisual history.

At the same time, TFAI will provide services such as film and audiovisual book reading, promotion of classic screenings, in addition to exchanges regarding collection and restoration techniques. In order to give back to the citizens of New Taipei, MOC and TFAI also plan to provide citizens with membership cards, film education activities, and rental discounts for public venues, among others.

By becoming an important new base of film and audiovisual culture in Asia, TFAI hopes to provide the world with a deeper understanding Taiwan's film and audiovisual culture.
