Award-winning visual artist Page Tsou (鄒駿昇)'s solo exhibition "ONIRISMI Page Tsou Solo Exhibition (夢境：鄒駿昇個展)" unveiled its grand opening at BASE Milano as part of the Milan Design Week 2021 on Sep. 4.
Co-curated by the Associazione Culturale NOI ALTRI and the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECO) in Italy, the exhibition will be on view until Sep. 12. After its initial run, the exhibition will continue to be on display at the NOI Bookstore from Sep. 13 to Oct. 13.
Those present at the opening ceremony include operational director of BASE Milano Giulia Cagnasca, press office manager of the Mondadori publisher Adelio Regitudine, and journalists from La Repubblica and Il Sole 24 Ore. Taiwan's Representative to Italy Lee Sing-ying (李新穎) and director of the Cultural Division Teng Mei-Jung (鄧美容) also attended the press opening and visited the exhibition to express their support.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Lee said that this exhibition is the first physical event after the establishment of the Cultural Division, and he affirmed the division's efforts amid the ongoing pandemic. Although Tsou was unable to attend the ceremony due to the travel restrictions, Lee believed that the strength of Taiwanese illustrators will make a strong impression on Italian audiences as well as build cultural exchanges between Italy and Taiwan.
In a pre-recorded video played at the ceremony, Tsou pointed out that he is honored to organize the solo exhibition, and he likes Italy especially the two cities Bologna and Milan, which have had a key impact on his creative career. He also mentioned that his hobby of collecting old things has gradually transformed into an important element which contributes to his painting style.
Teng added that, there will be more collaboration projects carried out in the future, to promote Taiwan's culture through Taiwanese works and creators.
