'The Making of an Ordinary Woman 2' wins award at International Drama Festival in Tokyo

The Taiwanese drama "The Making of an Ordinary Woman 2 (俗女養成記2)" won the Special Award for Foreign Drama at the 14th edition of the International Drama Festival in Tokyo. The Korean drama "Vincenzo," starring Korean actor Song Joong-ki, and the popular Thai drama "2gether" were also honored with this award.

Following the "A Boy Named Flora A (花甲男孩轉大人)" in 2018, "The Making of an Ordinary Woman 2" is the second Taiwanese drama to receive this award. Due to the pandemic, overseas winners were not allowed to be present at the awarding ceremony. Hence, directors Chen Zhang-lun (陳長綸), Yen Yi-wen (嚴藝文), leading actor Lan Wei-hua (藍葦華), and leading actress Hsieh Ying-Xuan (謝盈萱) specially recorded video testimonials for the event.

Directors Chen and Yen specially appreciated the International Drama Festival in Tokyo Executive Committee for their affirmation of "The Making of an Ordinary Woman 2." Chen added that he hopes the drama can bring everyone a little more warmth, humor, and healing power during the pandemic.

The number of streaming services and broadcast ranges of the drama has been increasing. So far, it has been shown on online video platforms, CATCHPLAY+, iQIYI, and TV platforms, Sanlih Entertainment Television, and Star Chinese Channel. Additionally, airline passengers can watch it on China Airlines, EVA Air, and Qatar Airways at the end of the year.

The film crew also revealed the good news that the drama will be broadcast in Japan, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and other Asian regions. It is hoped that The Making of an Ordinary Woman 2 will sweep the world.

Founded in 2008, the International Drama Festival in Tokyo (Tokyo Drama Award for short) is an annual award show for excellence in television drama production and focuses on "marketability" and "merchantability."
