The 45th Golden Tripod Awards ceremony, organized by the Ministry of Culture, was held at Taipei New Horizon on Nov. 17. Editor-in-chief of Ink Publishing Chu An-min (初安民) was honored with the Special Contribution Award for his contributions in the Taiwanese literature publishing industry.
This year, the organizer received a total of 1,300 entries. 29 works were awarded, and 51 outstanding publications were selected for recommendation.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister of Culture Lee Yung-te expressed his sincere gratitude to the jury committee for their hard work. He also pointed out that Golden Tripod Awards is the highest honor in Taiwan's publishing industry, and it has cultivated countless talented people.
Minister Lee added that promoting the habit of reading is MOC’s core commitment, the ministry will continue to collaborate with publishers, writers, editors, and other related departments to promote and support the publishing industry.
"Lost sounds of pre-war Taiwanese popular records (曲盤開出一蕊花－戰前臺灣流行音樂讀本)" won both Non-fiction and Picture Book Awards under the Book Publication Award; "Storm in Hong Kong 2019 (2019香港風暴)" received the Non-fiction and Excellent Publication Recommendation Awards; the Best Literature Book was awarded to the novel "Xiuqin, This Girl Who Loves to Laugh (秀琴，這個愛笑的女孩)" by renowned author Huang Chun-ming (黃春明).
MOC stated that the award-winning works reflect the freedom and diversity of Taiwan's publishing themes. The creators use photography, text, images, music, and mother tongue language to present Taiwan’s cultural landscape.
