Sustainable collections to take center stage at Taipei Fashion Week AW22

Organized by the Ministry of Culture, Taipei Fashion Week AW22 will take place from Mar. 23 to 30, featuring an opening show, 12 fashion shows, and 2 young talent student shows.

Through the joint efforts of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), the Ministry of Education, the Taipei City Government, and the Taiwan Textile Federation, the event aims to explore the possibilities of functional sustainability with the use of natural raw materials and offer Taiwanese-style fashion to address the global sustainability issue.

The press conference preceding the show invites Vice Minister of Culture Lee Lien-chuan (李連權), together with Deputy Director-General of Bureau of Foreign Trade of MOEA Lee Guann-Jyh (李冠志), Chief Secretary of Taipei City Government’s Department of Cultural Affairs Liu De-jian (劉得堅) and representatives of participating brands and schools. The new creations, which will be showcased at the fashion week by Taiwanese designers, were revealed at the event.

Addressing the event, Vice Minister of Culture Lee Lien-chuan said that there are three key aspects of the Taipei Fashion Week. Firstly, MOC encourages designers to work with the concept of culture and technology, using interactive technology art to combine elements of nature such as mountains and sea, to produce a unique style; celebrities of the popular TV series "Light the Night (華燈初上)" are invited to participate in the opening show; lastly, Taipei Fashion Week will continue to provide a platform for newcomers to showcase their creative energy in fashion design such as the inaugural “New Breed” segment.

To foster sustainability of the fashion industry and augment the international image of Taiwan’s fashion industry, MOC has organized Taipei Fashion Week since 2018. For more information, please visit the event's website.
