2022 Taiwan Academy of Fine Arts Exhibition kicks off

"2022 Taiwan Academy of Fine Arts Exhibition (2022台灣美術院院士大展)," featuring works by 47 members of the Taiwan Academy of Fine Arts, will be held at the National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall on March 12 through 21.

The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture Lee Yung-te, former Minister of Culture Hung Meng-chi (洪孟啟), Chairman Liao Shiou-ping (廖修平) of the Taiwan Academy of Fine Arts, notable artist Hsieh Li-fa (謝里法), among others.

"The Ministry of Culture will provide full support to the Taiwan Academy of Fine Arts," said Minister Lee during the oration. The Ministry of Culture, with the support of President Ing-wen (蔡英文), has proposed the "Reconstruction of Taiwan's Art History" project in 2017, gradually rebuilding the art history of Taiwan in collaboration with public and private sectors. To promote visual arts and deepen art development in Taiwan, the Ministry will also continue pushing forward related policies, added Minister Lee.

In addition to artistic creation and theoretical research, the Taiwan Academy of Fine Arts aims to promote cooperation between industry, academia, and the government, initiate international and cross-strait art exchanges and resource sharing, and enhance the development of fine arts in Taiwan, noted Chairman Liao.

Former Culture Minister Hung praised members of the association, for they are not only committed to nurturing talents but also elevating Taiwan’s social ethos through aesthetic education. Culture is mutually enriching, and the exchange of creative techniques and connotations between artists has led to a new level of excellence, said Hung.

Established in 2010, the Taiwan Academy of Fine Arts is dedicated to art practice and research, including Chinese and Western art history, art criticism, oil painting, printmaking, ink painting, calligraphy, and visual design. Its members, which have expanded from 10 to 47 today, have made significant contributions to art education with their rich academic background and unique styles over the past decade.
