Taiwan, Poland to jointly hold benefit concert for Ukraine

Taiwan and Poland will jointly hold a benefit concert, "Pray for Ukraine-Solidarity with Ukraine (為烏克蘭祈福—Solidarity With Ukraine慈善音樂會)," for Ukraine on April 17 at the National Concert Hall in Taipei, and all proceeds will go toward supporting Ukrainian refugees.

More than 4 million Ukrainians have fled their home country over the past month, and there are tens of thousands of people who still need assistance and protection inside Ukraine. The Polish office in Taipei initiated the idea of the concert and the Ministry of Culture, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and Taipei Philharmonic Foundation for Culture and Education actively co-organized the event to assist refugees in Ukraine. The concert will feature performances by Taiwan-based Polish pianist Kamil Tokarski, Taiwanese American violinist Leta Chin (金昫祈), Taiwanese soprano Lin Ling-hui (林玲慧), baritone Chen Han-wei (陳翰威), and conducted by Wu Yao-yu (吳曜宇), currently associate conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra.

The repertoire includes "Prelude op.33 no.1" by Sergei Bortkiewicz, "Carpathian Rhapsody" by Myroslav Skoryk, "Overture from Taras Bulba" and "Prayer for Ukraine" by Mykola Lysenko, "Andante Spianato and Grand Polonaise Brillante, op.22" by Frédéric Chopin, "Polonaise Brillante in A major" by Henryk Wieniawski, and others.

MOC encourages the public to participate in this charity concert to support Ukrainian people through practical actions, conveying love and good wishes to those who are suffering.

Tickets for the "Pray for Ukraine -- Solidarity with Ukraine" charity concert are on sale now. For more information, please visit the Taipei Philharmonic Foundation for Culture and Education’s official website.
