The Taiwan International Queer Film Festival (TIQFF) will return for its 9th edition on Aug. 26 this year with a lineup of film selections to be available online and offline. Physical screenings will take place in Taipei from Aug. 26 to 28 and in Taichung from Sep. 3 to 4; online screenings will be available on demand from Aug. 29 through Sep. 11.

With this year's theme of "Love Plus +∞," the TIQFF will feature a number of films from home and abroad. The curator of the TIQFF, Yu Ting-ging (游婷敬), expressed her gratitude to all creators who submitted their work. This year, the festival received 216 submissions, which is an increase of 20% compared to last year.

For International Short Film Competition, there will be 22 short films screening under four different sections: Queer Performity, Queer Poetic, Queer unlimited, and Queer in China and HK. This year’s Taiwanese Short Film Competition features several films that explore the emotions and desires of teenagers. The lineup includes "Do not go Gentle in Taipei (台北過手無暝無日)," "Rose Skirt (玫瑰色的裙)," "Swimming in the Dark (悄悄告訴她)," "A Rolling Stone (未泯)," "Leo & Nymphia (雙面曹里歐)," "The Scarf(圍巾)" and "Tank Fairy (桶妝仙女)."

As for the Taiwan & Sinophone Short Film Selection, the titles include "Today, you are you (吾家有男初長成)," "Deep Ocean (深海)," "The Third Solar Term (启哲)," and "Forever Queer (永恆酷兒)."

Taiwan International Queer Film Festival aims to establish itself as the premier LGBT film festival in all of Asia. It is important not only to present to the Taiwanese people LGBT films from around the globe, but also to showcase the best Taiwanese queer cinema on the international stage. This will be the start toward a better understanding of the visions of the world.
