The Ministry of Culture has made an announcement that Tony Lan (藍祖蔚), the incumbent chairman of the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute (TFAI), has been reappointed for a second term. This decision came after the Ministry proposed and submitted the nomination for the second-term board members to the Executive Yuan for approval.
Culture Minister Shih Che expressed his gratitude to the first-term board members for their efforts in swiftly getting the team on track and laying the solid foundation during the initial phase of the transformation of TFAI into an administrative corporation. He anticipates that the second-term board of directors will effectively fulfill TFAI's role as a national-level film and audiovisual center, serving as a cultural repository and becoming an important channel for international connectivity.
Lan previously served the ninth and tenth terms as a TFAI board member. Additionally, he also assumed the role of acting chairman at TFAI in 2019. By leveraging his previous experience, the Ministry hopes that Lan will help achieve the goal of transforming TFAI into an administrative corporation and further expand the collection of audiovisual cultural assets.
Furthermore, the MOC expects that Lan will combine the energy of society and social communities and foster collaboration among domestic and international professionals, in order to construct and promote Taiwan's film and audiovisual culture, along with its historical development, from a contemporary perspective. This will strengthen international exchange and shape the national brand, ultimately promoting the country's classic audiovisual content on the international stage.
According to the "Act for the Establishment of the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute (國家電影及視聽文化中心設置條例)," the second-term board of directors will run from May 19, 2023, to May 18, 2026. For the full list of the second-term board members, please refer to MOC's press release.
