Taiwan's Möbius Strip Theatre will stage "Distortion City,” a production that reflects on our high-tech society and human nature, in five cities in eastern France between April 4 and 17. The traveling production will be featured as part of the A l'est du Nouveau festival.
The theater will present an edition of "Distortion City” that was critically acclaimed at the 2012 Offd'Avignon Festival for its fusion of dance, aboriginal chanting, digital images, electronic music, and Oriental drumming.
Möbius Strip Theatre's abstract improvisation of digital images will present social anxiety and also provide an unreal setting that supports the dancers' emotions. The theater will also use projection to change the settings and props quickly and efficiently on the stage.
The setting produced of digital images will symbolize the indifferent city, while the dancers' bodiesand singing voices will represent the mental fragility and repression of city dwellers.
Through the combination of different art forms, "Distortion City” will surprise French audiences and stimulate their senses. For more information, please visit the festival's French-language website here.
