To spark children's interest in the English language, the National Museum of Taiwan Literature and the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) have jointly launched the "American Shelf” library program.
The 'American Shelf' program will provide books about the United States to children and youth. It is aimed at promoting the understanding of American language, culture, and society.
Books available include children's picture books and a youth literature collection. The program will also have a selection of materials on learning and teaching English.
The Tainan-based museum will also host English storytelling programs and cultural exchange activities in the future.
The opening ceremony on Dec. 20 was hosted by the National Museum of Taiwan Literature Deputy Director Chang Chung-chin and AIT Kaohsiung Branch Chief Gary Oba.
Similar programs have already been launched in Taoyuan and Yilan counties, as well as a Mobile American Corner program that started traveling around Taiwan in April to provide access to digital resources and books in English for children in remote areas.
You can check the availability of the books through the museum's online check-out system.
