The Ministry of Culture's latest digital program, the Literary Landscape of Taiwan website for audiobooks, is now available online. Up to 250 renowned works of Taiwanese literature, including "A Quiet City” (一座安靜的城市) by Liao Yu-hui (廖玉蕙) and "Crystal Boys” (孽子) by Pai Hsien-yung (白先勇), have been recorded.
All readers are welcomed to freely access the website, which has collected 250 pieces of renowned works of Taiwanese literature presented in the form of audio recordings by the original writers and poets.
Book lovers can now listen to the classic works of Taiwanese literature rather than reading them, giving literature enthusiasts a deeper understanding of the spiritual aspects of the works, above and beyond the written words alone, according to the Ministry.
Culture Minister Lung Ying-tai called the audiobook program "a literature promotion program with an emotional outlook,” because literature adds color and depth to the humanistic landscape of Taiwan while the auditory experience enriches emotions and memories.
